Device dependencies and scheduled maintenance

I would like someone to level-set my expectations on this.

We have “this device depends on” setup on our devices. When we schedule maintenance, we just put the top-most device affected in the scheduled maintenance. Will LibreNMS send alerts for dependent devices when the top-most device goes down?

Example:

SwitchB depends on SwitchA. SwitchA is put in scheduled maintenance for 2 AM. At 2AM, SwitchA reboots, and LibreNMS no longer sees both switches. Will LibreNMS send alerts about SwitchB?

It’s possible yes, if SwitchB goes down before SwitchA and your alert triggers then yes, it can still send alerts. one way around that is to make sure you have a delay of at least 5 minutes on your first alert as it’s most likely all devices will have polled within that period.

Thanks. If I understand correctly, if SwitchA goes down first, then it won’t send an alert (which is good). If I misunderstood, please let me know, otherwise my question is answered.
