The email alerts hangs and keeps sending alerts if the alert is manually cleared in LibreNMS

Most likely not, I expect it’s your config. What transports do you have enabled and please post a screenshot of the transport settings in use.
You can click test next to mail transport - if you get an email through then the setup is ok, if not (which is what I expect will happen) then I expect that this is to do with your sendmail setup which is outside of the scope for us. You’ll find a lot of information on setting up sendmail and being able to test it’s working.
I changed to smtp and back. seems to solve it
