Does anyone have experience of dedicating a poller to do only fdb discovery with the command below in cron job?
-h all -m fdb-table
Is this possible for ~5000 devices and let’s say 5-minute interval?

Just check how long it takes to run -h all -m fdb-table discovery in your environnement … In my environnement, a single switch can take up to 2 minutes sometimes, so 5000 of them in 5 minutes is clearly far from being possible.
I personnally do it twice a day which is more than enough to identify most of my MAC addresses.
