Alert rule for Cisco Switches Interface Errors

Hi All,

I am setting up an alert rule for switch interface error. I am setup the rule with ports.ifOutErrors_rate >100 or ports.ifOutErrors_rate >100. My questions:

  • does the ports.ifOutErrors_rate 100 mean 100 mpps (100 milli error packets per second)?
  • In general, what is the suitable error rate for a Cisco switches?
  • is there another way to create an alert for switch interface error?
