Alert Template - Placeholder

Hi All,

We use Device Groups to logically group different customers equipment.
I am trying to display the Device Group name in the transport email using an Alert Template.

I have tried the following;

Customer:%device_group.name

Customer:%value.device_group

Customer:%device_group.name

I have some questions as none of the above work.

Can I pull string data directly from the DB into the the Alert Template?
Can I write a new placeholder for use in an Alert Template?

Thanks

Dunc

Can anyone offer advice on how to create Alert Template place holders?

This information isn’t available + a device could be in multiple groups so wouldn’t really be that useful.

Hi Laf,

Thanks for your response. The device group was the example I had to use Alerts Templates.

I have read the following a number of times and there is a large list of placeholders

https://docs.librenms.org/#Alerting/Templates/

Can you offer advice on how to create new Alert Template place holders and what types of information can and can’t be used?

Can any thing that only has a single reference in the DB be used in a placeholder?
What format can I use to reference this information?
Is there a DB table for place holders themselves that needs to be added to?

Thanks,

Dunc

Hi Laf,

Or does none of this matter due to your work on this?
