Alert with new port errors

Hi I am trying to create an alert for port errors. Is there a way write a notification on new port errors without clearing the counters?

I know how to make alerts and rules but for port errors on switches it reports back any ports with errors but I would like to set an alert to only report if the errors incrase.

is ports.IfInErrors_delta and ports.IfOutErrors_delta what you need?
