Can I use the Librenms Alert system to replace Nagios?

Hello ,

First of all I want to what to choose to configure Librenms to send me notification if there is any interface was down ? I mean which rule to use on the Alert rules ?

Second question is it really useful to replace Nagios with Librenms Alert rules ?
