Got it working!!

Used the /etc/systemd/system/rrdcached.service from here
https://docs.librenms.org/Extensions/RRDCached/#rrdcached-installation-centos-7-or-8
and the config line
$config[‘rrdcached’] = “unix:/var/run/rrdcached.sock”;
