Hello everyone
I have been impressed by its powers and the friendly community that surrounds it. After successfully setting up my own instance and becoming familiar with the basic features; I am now ready to get deeper into LibreNMS’s deep alerting and notification abilities.
I already have a fundamental alerting system in place that sends me email notifications of severe situations such as device downtime and high CPU use. Yet; my network system continues to grow and I need to start using more advanced alerting methods to successfully manage it.
I would like to set up notification rules that adjust to the particular demands of my network. For example; alerting according to unique Ip the oid values that do not fall under the general guidelines. Any general examples and guidelines to create such guidelines would be greatly appreciated.
- When the number of monitors and notifications grows, I am worried about notification saturation. How can I collectively and deduplicate similar notifications to ensure that I only get important notifications and do not miss relevant knowledge?
- I use email for notifications, but want to get creative with different notification systems like pagerduty, and custom webhooks. If anyone has experience setting up these integrations, I would want to know about the process and possibly prevent them from staying away from.
- What are some successful methods to set up notification progression guidelines? For example; if a notification is not acknowledged inside the set duration; it should be moved to a more important issue and inform someone else.
- I am asking about the performance benefits of having multiple common notification rules and links. Where can I adjust my LibreNMS setup to fulfil these extra notifying demands without compromising network productivity?
Also I have gone through some post related to this https://community.librenms.org/t/fix-for-validate-incorrect-alteryx-column-notifications-datetime-users-created-at-fix/14836 but I want to know more about the notification setup
I would appreciate any personal experiences and suggestions for use that the community could give, as they would be very helpful. I want to gain knowledge and improve my network tracking skills with LibreNMS; and I believe the community’s insights will help me do so.
Thank you in advance for your efforts
