I recently ran into an issue where I had a line card fail in a Cisco switch. The optics failed as well, and while we were waiting for a replacement the ports were down. One of the ports was a redundant uplink to our carrier, of which we have BGP setup.
So, the host was up, but I was being alerted for a “Transit” port as well as BGP being down on that port.
It would be nice to be able to set a maintenance time for a specific check and or for a port on a host.
As of now, I think the only options are to specify an entire host.
