Eventlog Temperature warning

Dear Community,

I have 2 identical HP switches in 1 cabinet under each other phy-n501 and phy-n502.
both are equally warm but Phy-n502 continues to give warning in librenms that it is above 30 degrees. Phy-n501 does not start until it is above 34 grade.

Even on the switch itself, the warning does not exceed 35 degrees.

my question is how can I solve this? and how is it possible that 2 different temperature warning points are involved in 2 same switches

Hi @Svenman2

The HP switches do not export, as far as I remember, the alert value you see in the CLI (Max Temp 35). So LibreNMS is “guessing” what max could be, based on current temperature at 1st discovery.
They were not probably at the exact same temperature that day, which explains why they ended up with different values.

You should manually change this in the Edit/Health settings :

(I don’t have an easy access to HP switch now, so I captured a sample screen from another device)

Just put 35 or whatever makes sense for you, on both devices, and you’ll get proper alerts.
(you can even put warning and critical values, and create alert-rules accordingly if you want)

Hi Pipo Canaja,

thank you for your quick response. did not know that this was so easy to adjust.

also thanks for the explanation why this is coming. It is a pity that librenms can not read from hp swithes what the maximum temerature is.
