Well, i am using something like this. see screenshot. Not sure if this is the best way, but it works for me.
Assuming you have already created a ssh service check in librenms with the nagios plugins, bind it to
localhost as example and point the remote host to your ssh device ,the one you want to check.
In the Alert rule you have to filter the services.service_descr for your description you have set in the service check . I hope you get it working. good luck.
