Interfaces disappear when reaching limit

Hi,

I want to ask about my traffic graph, I have interfaces with a capacity of 1Gb, if the traffic reaches the 1Gb limit it will drop, is that a normal thing from Librenms or can I set it so that the graph does not drop?.

Thank you.

Have you configured RRDTune - LibreNMS Docs at all?

Could be your device is having issues when it’s reaching that throughput.

Without qos could be possible the SNMP packets not getting out due to the link is at max capacity?

Hi Speechy,

I don’t think that’s the problem, because it happens when traffic exceeds 1Gb.

Just to inform you before I used Librenms I also used Cacti, on Cacti I also experienced the same thing, but had to make changes to the port speed for example only 1Gb to 10Gb, then if traffic exceeds 1Gb there is no drop, but the port speed listed on the graphic remains 1Gb.

Hi Laf,

If I change the port speed from 1Gb to 2Gb for example, then the display on the graph will also change to 2Gb (marked in a red box) and I don’t want that to happen. Is there another way?

I think what you are describing with Cacti is it limiting the data to 1Gbps, our default iirc is 100Gbps so you won’t be experiencing that UNLESS you’ve configured RRDTune as per my original response, have you done that?

Okay, I have activated RRD Tune. I have a question, if I have activated RRD Tune in the Edit Device → Misc → Enable RRD Tune for all ports menu, do I need to activate it in the port setting menu too?

No! I was just asking if you’ve configured it not to go and configure it.

I just activated it in the Device → Misc → Enable RRD Tune for all menu and in the Global Settings → Poller → Datastore: RRDTool menu, it has been activated for a long time.

That’s not clear. Have you enabled RRD Tune before just now or have you only just done it?

I just activated it.

You probably don’t want to do that because now you are absolutely going to limit the port speed to 1Gbps.

As this has happened on LibreNMS and Cacit then it could be as Speechy said earlier. I’m not sure what else I can suggest.

I faced the same issue with a 200G LAG port. When the traffic reaches up to 200G it shows a drop while actually the traffic doesn’t drop as the cacti and Grafana graphs are not reflected that way.

That’s more than likely because the default is 100G max when RRD files are created, see the tuning doc I linked to earlier to change it to 200G
