We are going to merge in PR5932 on Monday the 27th of Feb. This will standardise the collation and character set to utf8_unicode_ci and utf8 respectively.
This has been tested on a number of installs with no real issues, this includes a 3k+ device install - the update did take around 15 minutes on this sized install so we have decided to bring this to people’s attention before hand.
