The current implementation of parent/child relationships is limited to alerts only, but using these relationships in the GUI was decided against for maximum visibility.
I am proposing nesting the children under their parents recursively, such that the user can expand or collapse a hierarchical level, hiding all the children to allow them to opt to keep a down site and all its child nodes contained to a single line in the dashboard, increasing visibility of other network events that might end up off the page otherwise. This is particularly handy for staffed NOCs like mine, who stare at that dashboard their whole shift waiting for network events. It also paints a clearer picture of what’s going on to upper management, who is scared and confused by lots of red lights.
