We use LibreNMS to monitor a range of connectivity and hosting services. We have a bunch of ICMP-only devices monitored across the Internet purely for accessibility.
When adding an ICMP-only device, the sysname field disregards mixed case and makes everything lowercase. I can edit the field retrospectively and change the case, but ideally I would like to not have to do so. It makes names far less readable.
I’ve read elsewhere that this is done to allow hostnames to be easily compared, but even if this were the case, surely this is easily achieved by running the comparison through a lowercase function?
