OS/Hardware level requirement for Librenms Application

Hi,

I am building Monitoring infrastructure with the following range of servers
x2 Pollers/web front
x1 Rrdcache and Memcache Server
x3 Mariadb server in Galera cluster

I was wondering if someone can help me or direct me to the right direction. I need to find if there is any requirement for the Swap file/partition on any server for this application to work. I am planning to use the following specs for all the servers.

x3 - Databases servers - MariaDB in Galera Cluster

OS - Ubunutu 18.04
CPU - 4 vCore
RAM - 6 GB
Storage - 100 GB - SAS based

x2 - Poller - Librenms Application & Web Application
OS - Ubunutu 18.04
CPU - 8 vCore
RAM - 8 GB
Storage - 100 - SATA based

x1 - Storage server - RRDcache & Memcache
OS - Ubunutu 18.04
CPU - 4 vCore
RAM - 8 GB
Storage - 250 GB -SAS based

Hi,

How many devices and what kind?

Hi @TheGreatDoc ,

I will be monitoring around 300 devices and this will include -

  1. network devices (routers, switches, firewalls) - mostly Cisco and Palo Alto
  2. Operating systems - servers ( windows and Linux based)
  3. Esxi servers
  4. Storage Nodes

I think you will go fine with that.

The Galera cluster… Is something that is already working or is going to be new and only for LibreNMS?

Hi @TheGreatDoc,

I am thinking to use Galera cluster because of it’s multi-master functionality. I have tested this in my lab environment and it was working fine.

Yes this cluster is going to be dedicated to LibreNMS only.

If I take you back to my original question, you reckon I will not need to create a swap file/partition on Ubuntu servers?
I mean, Is there any requirement from LibreNMS?

Vik
