The Geographical Map is derived from the World Map widget.
The World Map widget permits to set the default latitude/longitude/zoom/group_radius for the World Map. This is saved in the users_prefs database table.
I did some work on the Geographical Map, but never figured out how to inherit the World Map settings in the db. Had another look today, but this is way above my skill level. Possibly just as well. I’d prefer it if one could just pan and zoom, and the current value was saved to the users preferences.
