I am working on a improved Sata and NVME SMART (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology). Currently I lack test data for SAS from smartctl to know how it looks to work on it.
Currently is am working on getting it feature complete, and LibreNMS side is not optimal.
Feature list:
- Sensors for Health, Temperature (with correct limits), Self-test-status, Time since Last selftest, Wear, space, For devices with FARM, Voltage (with limits), Power, and Humidity.
- User defined names with defined variables.
- Trend/Time to Thresh
- Rate of change warning (Gobally and per drive), I have already found missing configuration on my part, that was visible with to rate changes limts.
- Rate of change for Count’s. using rrd COUNTER.
- If disk is sleeping do not wake, and only wake every 23h and 55min.
- Rotating Wear Sensor, Excluded Attributes. (LibreNMS side)
- Automatic disk discovery.
- Reusable graph with variables for selecting of disk and attributes to show.
- DWPD calcuation
- Estimated Lifetime, will limited it to max 5 years.
- RRD files are always unique regales of what is use in user interface.
Elements that needs some more input on is:
- How much rrd logging is to enough? A sata device has up to
- 32
smart_sata_attributes - 16
smart_sata_phy_events - 29
smart_sata_dev_stats- General Statistics: 12
- Free-Fall Statistics: 2
- Rotating Media Statistics: 8
- General Errors Statistics: 3
- Transport Statistics: 3
- Solid State Device Statistics: 1
- Optional FARM:
- 46
FARM Workload - 161
FARM Error - 27
FARM Environment - 450
FARM Reliability
- 46
- 32
- If not all Statistics are converted to a Graph row, how should the data be presented?
Elements i have not implement but don’t see a lot of issue with:
- Device overview panel
- App Overview page
- Dashboard panel (top drives with warnings/error/lowers normalized valve).
- Event logs
