Using the API to create transports and transport groups

Hello!

Is it possible to create transports and transport groups through the API?
I read through the documentation, but was unable to find any details on the ability to do it.

If it is not possible via the API, is there a suggested way to programmatically view/add/edit/delete transports and transport groups other than through the web UI?
